<p class="isSelectedEnd"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Our partner, the VEMI Lab at the University of Maine, is seeking individuals who are blind or have low vision to participate in an in-person research study focused on indoor navigation technology.</span></p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In collaboration with Dr. Nicholas Giudice, the research team is developing a prototype smartphone app designed to help people who are blind or have low vision navigate unfamiliar indoor environments. This study aims to better understand how different types of audio cues, such as spoken instructions or sound effects, can support navigation when combined with a vibration-based digital map.</span></p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong id="docs-internal-guid-6683321e-7fff-0670-707f-11ea78172031">About the Study: </strong>Participants will be asked to sit down with a researcher and test a prototype iPhone app. During the session, you will explore a digital map using touch and listen to different audio modes that describe landmarks in various ways. You will then provide feedback on which audio mode helped you understand the layout most effectively.</span></p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Location:</strong> The Carroll Center for the Blind, Rachel Rosenbaum Technology Center</span><br><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Dates: </strong>Friday, March 6 or Saturday, March 7</span><br><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Duration:</strong> Approximately 60\u201375 minutes</span></p>
<p class="isSelectedEnd"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Eligibility Criteria:</strong></span><br><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You are eligible to participate if you meet all of the following criteria:</span></p>

<li class="isSelectedEnd" style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 16px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You are comfortable using a smartphone (iPhone or Android)</span></li>
