Hello all,

 

The next meeting of the NFBMD At-Large Chapter will be on Tuesday, February
18.  The National President's message begins at 7:30 and the meeting is from
8 pm - 9 pm.  This will be a jam-packed meeting.  Toni March, the Director
of the Office on Blindness and Vision Services in the Division of
Rehabilitation Services, will talk about how to get technology,
rehabilitation teaching services, and more.  Upcoming events, such as the
TUG meeting on March 14 and the Center Stage presentation on March 26 will
be discussed.  On March 14 you can learn about OrCam and the Center Stage
presentation will be "Where we Stand".   Call in and learn more about these

At Large Chapter Meeting Minutes for January 21, 2020. 

The presidential Release was started at 7:40 Pm. 

The chapter meeting was started at 8:10 Pm by Marguerite Woods, President .

Approximately 15 members on the call. 

 

We had a discussion about the relationship between the National Federation
of the Blind, the state affiliate and local chapters.  All of the levels
work together.  What do we get from the National Office?

Presidential release, 

Newsline,

Free white canes, 

Slate and stylus, 

Braille monitor and other literature. 

 

The state level, helps people with information, referral and advocacy.  And
the local chapters is the grass-roots level where people meet other blind
people and share support and experience.  The local chapters also help the
state with its legislative program, etc. 

              

Treasurer's Report. 

Opening balance $309.45.

 

Income:

Hagerstown fundraiser: $140. 

Baltimore Fundraiser:

Tickets: $250, 

Lunch: $277, 

50/50 Raffle: $15,

Total for Baltimore Fundraiser $542. 

State Convention Candy Sale: $55. 

2020 Dues: $55.

Income total $792.

 

Expenses: 

One Call Now                   $255.98.

Dues to NFBMD               $ 25.00.

Total Expenses                 $280.98.

Ending Balance                $820.47.

 

There was a motion to accept the treasurer's report and then a second.
There was a vote and the report was approved.

Blind Cruising 2020

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland will be hosting a cruise
fundraiser from September 27, 2020 to October 4, 2020.   The affiliate will
receive a portion of the cost of each cabin that is booked.  All are
welcome, including members of the NFBMD, other affiliates, families,
colleagues, and friends.  For additional information or to reserve your

Date: September 27 - October 4, 2020.

Port of Departure: Baltimore, Maryland.

Freeport, Bahamas.

Key Dates:

*       First deposit due: January 10, 2020 = $25 per person.

*       Second deposit due: April 15, 2020 - $250 per person plus full names
of sailors.
