Hello,
I have been in the IT field for over 20 years and wanted to add some info to this discussion.
First, I watch many many technology videos from many well-known technology people on YouTube. I have to say I've never heard of this person in this youtube video.
Next, The content he provides does have truths, but many things were stretched. Simple short response, if you know 100% without a shadow of a doubt what a setting does and want to turn it off go for it. If apple has a setting in the settings app, it won't brick your device or make it useable. Just remember what settings you change so if you have issues after the fact, you can go back and change them back. On the other hand, if you are not 100% sure what a setting does do not disable it, talk to your techy family member, friend, or coworker, heck, or your kid to see if they know what the setting does.
A little longer discussion. As for directed ads and ad tracking. if either of these are disabled it does, not, prevent ads. It just prevents the company from knowing your likes and dislikes to tailor ads to you. So, you'll start seeing ads for things that are completely off the wall. on location tracking, yes putting this to while in app will save battery. Apps that rely on location services to provide you up to the min updates should be on always allow, like weather or weather channel, if you use them. There were some location settings they said, "you can turn off because you're not international, "FALSE", these settings like Wi-Fi calling and cell something (will have to watch video again) require your location to help identify close cell towers and Wi-Fi hotspots to help Wi-Fi calling and cell service. It won't cause loss of service, but it will degrade performance by disabling them. There were other things but I would have to watch it again. As I said before if you know a setting do what you want, if you're not sure don't touch it.
Thanks,
