The meeting was started at 8:00 pm by Marguerite Woods, President.

Round robin took place. Everyone announced themselves, told their location,
and gave their favorite spring flower.

Approximately 20 members on the call.

Sharon said that the *Accountability Act for Accessible K-12 Education for
Students with Disabilities *bill is stuck in the House, and she is asking
everyone to email and call their state Delegate to move this bill along
before session ends.

Tonight’s guess speaker is Marci Carpenter. She is a national board member
and President of the NFB of Washington state. She introduced herself, gave
background on her vision problem, and talked about the nonvisual training
she received and how it has helped her. She also discussed how the NFB has
inspired her. She believes that every blind person belongs here in the NFB.

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise
the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
