NFB At Large Chapter Meeting Minutes for June 21, 2022

The Presidential Release was played at 7:30 PM.

The meeting was started at 8:02 PM by Marguerite Woods, President.

Round robin took place. Everyone announced themselves, gave their location
within the state, and answered the question what is your favorite thing to
do on vacation.

Approximately 30 members were on the call .

Charles said the pledge and Debbie repeated it.

June birthdays were celebrated. Members who have birthdays in June are
Ronza and Sharon.

Ronza discussed the changes to the Constitution dealing with membership and
misconduct.

Sharon and Ronza gave some national convention updates.

Ronza talked about the Crab feast that takes place on August 5th.

In the Braille Spectator there is an article about Don.

Tonight’s guest speaker was one of our members, Henry Smith. He talked
about his adjustment to blindness and how he wanted to continue to work.
Henry had to stop working due to COVID, but he hopes to get back to the
nursing home to provide music and hope to their clients. His advice was to
“say yes to life and no to destructive behavior and attitudes.”

Sharon made a motion to not have a meeting in July and resume in August, it
was seconded, and the motion passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:06 Pm.

Respectfully Submitted by Danielle Earl, Secretary

The National Federation of the Blind of Maryland knows that blindness is
not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Everyday we raise
the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
