We are pleased to share that this year Maryland has one NFB National
Scholarship Finalist and five NFB of Maryland John T. McCraw Scholarship
Finalists!
2026 NFB National Scholarship Finalist:
Osolou Ozo-Onyali (Soso) is a senior at the University of Delaware Honors
College, double-majoring in Criminal Justice and Psychology with a minor in
Disability Studies. Soso plans to be a clinical forensic psychologist,
working in the criminal justice system. Soso is a member of the Maryland
Association of Blind Students (MDABS) and TLC Chapter, and she currently
holds board positions on MDABS and the National Association of Blind
Students. You will be able to read Soso's scholarship essay in the next
publication of the Braille Spectator.
2026-2027 NFBMD John T. McCraw State Scholarship Finalists:
Gia Min Albrecht is an incoming Freshman at the University of Maryland
Baltimore County. He will be studying social work. Gia Min is new to the
Federation, though he attended an NFB BELL Academy when he was very young.
Ashanti Gillis is an incoming Freshman at the University of Maryland
Baltimore County. She will be studying psychology with a focus on
industrial psychology. Ashanti is new to the Federation.
Naudia Graham is a rising junior at Loyola University Maryland. She is
double-majoring in political science and leadership and management
consulting with the goal of becoming an attorney. Naudia serves as
President of the Maryland Association of Blind Students and is a member of
the Central Maryland Chapter.
Sophia Keil is a graduate student at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
She is working towards a Masters in Vision Rehabilitation. Sophia serves as
treasurer of the Maryland Association of Blind Students and is a member of
the Baltimore County Chapter.
Elizabeth Moyer will be attending her second year of graduate school at
Loyola University Maryland. She is working to earn her Masters in Special
Education. Liz is a member of the Baltimore County Chapter.
Congratulations to them all. You will get to interact with them at the NFB
National Convention in July in Austin, Texas and the NFBMD State Convention
in February in Pikesville.
