Update on the Metro Senior SmarTrip(r) Card
It is now easier than ever for senior citizens age 65 and older to get
their discount when riding Metrobus and Metrorail.
Senior SmarTrip(r) cards are now available for sale at a wide variety of
locations throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan region.
Senior citizens can purchase the Senior SmarTrip(r) card simply by
showing a valid, government-issued photo ID that includes their date of
birth (i.e., valid driver's license, passport, etc.) and completing a
required registration form at the place of purchase. Registration
ensures balance protection against card loss, theft or damage.
Once customers purchase a Senior SmarTrip(r) card for $5.00, they can
add value to the card at any Metrorail station and on any Metrobus.
Senior citizens can also add value to the card at 150 area CVS/pharmacy
and Giant Food stores.
The Senior SmarTrip(r) card is bright yellow, which makes it easy to
identify as a reduced fare SmarTrip(r) card. Discounted fare is
automatically deducted from the card.
Senior SmarTrip(r) cards are available for purchase at Metro sales
outlets, regional commuter stores and public libraries in Prince
George's and Montgomery counties. They are also available at various
locations in the District of Columbia.
