Celebrate Older Americans Month!

On May 17th, County Executive Isiah Leggett will pronounce May 2011 as
Older Americans Month at the 50+ Employment Expo. Other organizations
throughout the County will also celebrate the occasion by offering
special events to older adults.  

 

Active Aging Expo

Monday, May 2
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Activity Center at Bohrer Park, 506 South Frederick Avenue (next to
Gaithersburg High School)

FREE (no registration necessary)



The City of Gaithersburg Active Aging Expo will be a day filled with
energy, educational talks, interactive demonstrations, and preventive
screenings.  There will also be facials, massages and the opportunity to
explore how to re-invent yourself at any age.  Learn how the arts can
help you age more successfully as well as how to: 

*         care for your skin to look your best
*         keep your brain active and healthy
*         reduce stress
*         maintain healthy relationships and romance
*         lead a healthier, safer life.

Seniors Making Art Together with Collage at Glen Echo Park

The Jewish Council for the Aging's 50+ Employment Expo will help
participants who are looking for jobs to retool, recharge and reinvent
themselves while connecting to recruiters and trainers who can assist
them. 

Bob Ryan, lead meteorologist on the 11 PM News on ABC7/WJLA-TV,  will
provide the keynote address. Other features of the event include:



*	Seminars on changing careers and completing online applications 
*	Resume critique and assistance 
*	Employer exhibits and recruiters 
*	Local resources for seniors
