The Saturday Technology Training Session on October 15th was originally scheduled to be on the topic of Disaster Preparedness but due to unforeseen circumstances has had to be switched to the topic of eBook Reader accessibility and will feature demonstrations and discussion of the Kindle, KindleDX, KindlePC, Kindle for iPhone, NookTouch, and NookColor.  Kamran Rasul and Patrick Timony will co-host.  Kamran and Patrick are also co-hosts of the Adaptive Services Interest Group (ASIG) a networking meetup for adaptive technology professionals in the library and university communities  Kamran is Assistive Technology Specialist at the American University Office of Disability Support Services.  Patrick is Adaptive Technology Librarian in the Adaptive Services Division of the DC Public Library.

Also, as a reminder, AccessibilityCampDC 2011 will be at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 9:30am to 5:30pm, Saturday October 22nd 20011, in the 2nd floor east and west lobbies and room 215 Adaptive Services at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G Street NW. The Saturday Sessions are held in Room 215 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, 901 G Street NW, Washington DC, and are a chance for people who use Adaptive Technologies to get together and share information, learn about Technologies like the JAWS ScreenReader and MAGic ScreenMagnifier which make the computer accessible to people who are blind or have low vision, and hear demonstrations of new Adaptive Technologies and Services. Some examples of demonstrations from past sessions include accessible cell phones, Dancing Dots Music software, PeaPod online grocery ordering service, and Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind.
The Adaptive Technology Program provides adaptive technology workstations for people who need them in order to access the library's programs and services.  The workstations are located in the Adaptive Services Division, Room 215 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library.  Customers can call ahead and reserve two-hour sessions at either the computer workstations or at the CCTVs. There is no public parking at the library.
