Please come to a Saturday Technology Training Session on February 2, 2013 from 1pm to 4pm, to initiate a community-based Job Club for people with disabilities, which will be held on a regular basis at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library this spring in coordination with the bi-monthly, employment-related series of Saturday Technology Training Sessions.
What will the structure of this entity be? We want you to determine it's scope and purpose. Some of the possibilities are listed below:
The Jobs Club could:
meet on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis
occur in the evenings or weekends
include coffee/tea and refreshments
be led and organized by a facilitator
be of a limited size (5 to 30 participants?)
meet for at least a three-month period?
have a centralized way to contact other members
include a step process model (workforce development vs. 12-step or grieving process)
allow participants to share their various networks to help each other identify job opportunities.
provide information and skills in job search techniques, résumé building, and interview preparation
feature various guest speakers: human resources experts, small business owners, employer representatives, and success stories
