Subject: July 27 program: Converting documents for accessiblity -- Germantown Library
Importance: High

Please help spread the word about our latest Saturday Adaptive Technology Session, sponsored by the Disability Resource Center Library Advisory Committee:

Title: Converting Documents for Accessibility

Increasing numbers of students and employees with print disabilities prefer to use computers, tablets and smartphones to read documents -- but too often the books and documents are not in an accessible format. Producing accessible documents from the wild array of formats available these days can be a challenge for employers and educators at all levels.

Come for demonstrations and discussion of apps such as Ideal and File Converter and software such as Calibre, Mobipocket, Easy Converter, EPUB Converter. This program will be useful and stimulating for educators, government agency staff, employers of people who have print disabilities, and anyone who wants to convert documents for accessibility. Led by Kamran Rasul, Assistive Technology Specialist at American University's Disability Support Services, and co-facilitator of the Saturday Adaptive Technology Sessions.

Date and time: July 27, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM
Location: Germantown Library, 19840 Century Blvd, Germantown

Free, and no registration is required.

To request a sign language interpreter or other deaf/hard of hearing services for library-sponsored programs, email MCPL.DeafAccess at montgomerycountymd.gov, preferably with three business days notice. To request other accommodations, contact your local library.
