Your Right to Sight: Demystifying Eyes Over 50

More than one third of your brain is devoted to interpreting what your
eyes see. This free program will separate myths from facts about eye
diseases - from the front to the back of the eye, where the optic nerve
connects the visual system to the brain.

Register now for "A Journey to Living Well"- Six Week Program to Improve
Overall Health

Join this free six-week program to help you enjoy a healthier life!
Maximize your potential even with a long-term health condition such as
Parkinson's disease, heart disease, asthma, cancer, arthritis, mild
depression, obesity or osteoporosis. Learn tips on being your own
healthcare advocate; gain a sense of greater control over your quality
of life; identify strategies for dealing with a long-term health issue;
build confidence in establishing supportive relationships; and improve
management of symptoms. 

 

The curriculum for Living Well is an evidence-based program called
"Chronic Disease Self-Management Program" developed by Stanford
University. Classes are 2.5-hours, once a week for six weeks. Family
members, friends and caregivers are also welcome. The Community Health
Education Department and Faith Community Nurse Program of Holy Cross
Hospital are sponsors of this program. 

 

Classes will take place in the large conference room at Germantown
Library (19840 Century Boulevard, Germantown, MD 20874) on Thursdays
March 21, 2013 - April 25, 2013 (March 21st, 28th, April 4th, 11th, 18th
and 25th), each from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. 

 

Registration: Please contact the Holy Cross Call Center at 301-754-8800
and ask to register for the "Chronic Disease Self-Management Program" at
Germantown Library beginning March 21, 2013 or register online by
clicking here <http://www.holycrosshealth.org/> . Click on "Classes and
Events". In the "Topic" box, click on "Health and Wellness Education".
Look for "Chronic Disease Self-Management Program".
