A program in the Diversity within Diversity series sponsored by the LC Office of Opportunity, Inclusiveness and Compliance (OIC) will be a conversational panel based on personal and work-related experiences among employees at the Library of Congress who are blind. Freddie Peaco, LC retiree, will facilitate with panelists: Debbie Brown, Jane Sheehan, and Lloyd Rasmussen, all employees of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped<http://www.loc.gov/nls/>.

A program on the experiences of people with disabilities will feature presentations by The Honorable Tammy Duckworth and Karen Keninger, Director of the National Library Services for the Blind and Physically Handicapped<http://www.loc.gov/nls/> and a review of items in the Veterans History Project, StoryCorps and LC's Disability Awareness portal.

Educational presentations of a variety of the latest computing and smart phone technologies that provide accessibility at home and on the job.


11/12/2013 - Veterans and Service Animals (Learn More<http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/edi/register/index.cfm?event=4543>)

This 1.5 hour webinar will focus on the use of service animals by veterans, primarily in ADA Title II (State & Local Government) and Title III (Places of Public Accommodation) settings. The webinar will particularly look at the use of service animals by veterans who have non-apparent disabilities, such as PTSD.  Service animal basics will briefly be covered, as well as a short discussion on service animals as a workplace accommodation for veterans with disabilities.
