Subject: Important Updates on OESS Eligibility Programs

Updates from Office of Eligibility and Support Services (OESS) for 2016

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to share critical updates from OESS regarding changes that will affect our customers in 2016. Please share this important information below (detailed information attached) with customers as appropriate.

Best,
JoAnn Barnes
Chief, Children Youth and Family Services

New Food Supplement Program Benefit Issuance Schedule

v The Maryland State Department of Human Resources has mailed out a Food Supplement Program (FSP) Benefit Issuance Schedule flyer to all FSP customers reminding them of the new FSP Benefit Issuance dates beginning January 2016. The notice and issuance schedule are attached in both English and Spanish.

Return of the Able Bodied Adults Without Dependent (ABAWD) Policy for Food Supplement Benefits

v Effective January 1, 2016, the ABAWD policy goes into effect for single adults between the ages of 18-49 for seven (7) local jurisdictions including Montgomery County. This means that customers identified as ABAWDs must be working and/or participating in a work activity in order to continue receiving Food Supplement Program benefits for more than three (3) months within a thirty-six (36) month period, through December 2018. Please have customers contact their case workers if they have questions about how this policy may affect them. This policy will be in effect through December 2018.

If you have questions about either of these changes, please email Yvonne Iscandari, or one of the OESS Office Managers.

Child Care Subsidy

v Please refer to HHS ALL announcement sent out on 12-29-15. Questions on Child Care Subsidy can be emailed to Rene` D. Williams or directed to the CCSP Main line at 240-777-1177

Thank you all for your assistance with informing customers about these updates.

OESS wishes you a Happy, Productive, and Successful New Year!
