Folklife Festival 2015
At the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival, you will find many exemplary practitioners of diverse, authentic, living traditions—both old and new. The goal of the Festival is to strengthen and preserve these traditions by presenting them on the National Mall.
This year’s program will feature Peru. Visitors can expect to experience the culture through the arts and craft demonstrations, music and dance performances, moderated discussions, ritual and celebratory precessions, and a variety of hands on experiences.
Once again the Smithsonian will be offering a number of access services to make this event accessible to all.
Festival accessibility features:
· Induction loop at all music and narrative stages, except the Ralph Rinzler stage.* Receivers are available at various locations throughout the festival.
· Wheelchairs are available for loan on a first-come, first-served basis.
· Discussion sessions are offered with ASL and CART. Please refer to the festival schedule to see which sessions are interpreted and captioned. http://www.festival.si.edu/schedule. A “Floater” interpreter is available on a first-come first-served basis at the Volunteer tent.
