Subject: Reminder: Job Club, Saturday, March 21, MLK library

Reminder: the Job Club this Saturday, March 21, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at the MLK library will focus on interests and skills. Sarah Presley is the discussion moderator.

Besides the curriculum materials that were sent to this list at the end of February, you might want to take the tests at the following websites to prepare for the session:

O*NET Interest Profiler at My Next Move:
http://www.mynextmove.org/explore/ip
This is an interest inventory based on the Holland codes (RIASEC). It consists of a list of 60 activities that you rate as to how much you would like or dislike doing them, regardless of ability to actually do them. After rating the activities, you get scores for the various interest areas, and then you can pick what level of education or job preparation you have or will have, and see jobs (and lots of information about those jobs) that match your interests.

Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test
http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp
A free Myers-Briggs type test that is reasonably accessible. After answering the 72 yes/no statements, you get your Myers-Briggs type and then can click on free links to information about the type and career interests for that type.

More info on careers for Myers-Briggs types:
http://www.personalitypage.com/careers.html
This just gives a little more information about careers for the various types.
