Subject: FW: NSA-Bethesda to conduct Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection exercises sometime between Jan. 30 and Feb, 10, 2017.

See the announcement below my signature from Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB), home of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

NSAB will be conducting Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection exercises on its campus on Rockville Pike in Bethesda sometime between January 30 and February 10. Please be advised that there may be occasional traffic delays near an NSAB gate and unusual sounds and actions on campus related to the exercises.

Details are below.

- Solid Curtain / Citadel Shield 2017 will be conducted by all Navy
installations from 30 January to 10 February. All installations are
required to participate.

- During these two weeks, NSAB will conduct several Antiterrorism/Force
Protection exercises, to include at the entry control points (gates).
Personnel may experience a temporary delay or closure of roads, sidewalks,
and/or at least one gate.

- Exercises will be monitored by safety observers. Participants will
simulate response by handling red-orange in color training weapons. These
weapons are solid rubber and do NOT fire munitions.

- NSAB will NOT reveal exact times and exercise locations to anyone either
prior to or during the exercises. Please refrain from calling Emergency
Dispatch or Security Department personnel to inquire. Such action
interferes with the use of emergency communications equipment and prevents
real-world emergencies from being answered in a timely manner.

POC: Hans Semple, NSAB Deputy Security Director.
