Subject: Free Home Safety Inspections Done by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service

The American Red Cross in partnership with Montgomery County Rescue Service is targeting Montgomery County Veterans  to provide them with a free home safety check by the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.  Any resident can request an inspection.

They will have a uniformed firefighter come to your home and check for the presence and function of smoke alarms and/or carbon monoxide alarms.  In some situations they can provide and install new, replacement battery operated alarms and  carbon monoxide alarms, if needed.  They will also check your home for other common causes of 911 calls in an effort to reduce the likelihood that you will need their services.  When they are done, you will be provided with a written checklist. The typical home safety check takes about an hour.

MCFRS personnel are not qualified as licensed electricians therefore they cannot make changes to 120V AC hardwired smoke alarms. If you are unsure what kind of smoke alarms you have, please schedule an appointment.
