[Md-sligo] free talking thermostat

Good morning. I am wearing my engineer hat at the moment. I'm sure this is a
good unit, although you might explain why you don't need it any longer. Some
of these thermostats have limitations as to what they can be connected to.
Although the thermostat is free, you will probably need to pay someone to
install it, or find out that it isn't compatible with your heating/air
conditioning equipment. Some research needs to be done.
I only know of two companies that made talking thermostats. One is
talkingthermostats.com in Minneapolis. They have a good reputation of
helpfulness. The other devices were the Kelvin thermostats from Independent
Living Aids. We have one of these in our house and it is handy, although it
needs a new set of batteries every few months and has occasionally locked
up. We paid to have it installed by the company that maintains our
heating/air conditioning system. It is no longer made, I think.
Ask questions. I'm sure this unit can find a good home.
