[Md-sligo] Abilities Ride

Hi Everyone, Terry and I tried the Abilities Ride yesterday for the first 
time, and the only drawback that we had at the time was that the cab company 
( Regency ) or the driver didn't call us to say that the cab had arrived.
Other than that, we like the program and hope that it continues.

Actually I was in northern virginia. :) I grew up in Fairrfax,
and so yes I was.
As far as the metro access id number goes... I have no earthly
clue what that is. I mean could I call them, give them my name,
see if it's still valid?

If you were somewhere other than in northern Virginia in the area
covered by
Metro and MetroAccess, you have to re-apply. If you have a
MetroAccess ID,
you should check it and see if it is still valid.  It takes along
time, so
do it as soon as you can.

Yeah, with all these new programs coming out, I'm seriously
reconsidering
applying for metro access. It would help me with transportation
immensely.
Although, I wonder, and those of you who are really familiar with
metro
access can hopefully tell me, I did apply a long while ago, and
was
accepted. This was though, in the state of Virginia. Does this
mean I'll
have to reapply, or can I simply renew my membership?

I scheduled my first trip with Abilities Ride today. They
definitely seemed
a bit unorganized. At first, the rep asked me what my co-pay
would be, and I
told her I understood that I would only have to pay $5.
Eventually, she got
around to asking me what my Metro Access ID number was (even
though I told
her up front that I was a Metro Access customer). Then she asked
me for my
"pass". I said "I'm not sure what that is. Do you mean my
password that I
use to log into my Metro Access account?" Then she apparently
realized she
did not need that from me, and we eventually got the trip
scheduled.

I guess there are wrinkles to work out with the start of a new
program,
which is understandable. But I think it has the potential to be a
very good
alternative to Metro Access.

start and

What do you tell the cab company when booking your trip, so they
do  not
charge you normally.  Also, can this be combined with call and
ride or do
you need cash or credit card.  I would think call and ride  would
be out.
Like mixing apples and oranges!
Thinking of trying it.
Was your wait  longer than a normal cab?

the website for the new Abilities Ride program. As mentioned at
the  meeting
on Saturday, there was not a lot of information provided by
Metro about the
program, but this website has phone numbers and  website links. I
personally
think they should have sent out emails or  a Metro alert, but it
is what it
