Subject: Planning your trip to Orlando: 2018 NFB National Convention

Thank you for preregistering for the 2018 National Convention of the National Federation of the Blind. Enclosed is some information we think you will find useful as your plan your week in Orlando. More information is available on the NFB convention webpage <https://nfb.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=11420&qid=2267501> .

Requests for Accommodations Based on Disability

Due to the size and complexity of this convention, as well as the need to appropriately plan for additional human and other resources, requests for specific accommodations you require to participate fully and equally were due to us thirty days prior to the convention. If you have not submitted your request, please do so immediately by sending an email to jerniganinstitute at nfb.org <https://nfb.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=11421&qid=2267501> . Late requests will be considered but we cannot guarantee that we can fulfill them due to time and resource constraints. Pre-registrants of the convention who require deaf or deaf-blind interpreters should review the convention agenda and provide us with a description of the type of accommodation and a list of convention sessions you will be attending.

Small receivers for the hearing impaired to receive direct transmissions from the public address system during the NFB Board of Directors meeting, general sessions, the banquet, and meetings of the deaf-blind division may be checked out prior to the listed meetings and kept until the close of the last session the user is attending. Use of receivers requires a refundable cash deposit of $40.

Code of Conduct

The National Federation of the Blind seeks to provide a convention environment in which diverse participants, including members, speakers, exhibitors, staff, and volunteers, may learn, network, and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues in an environment of mutual respect. We recognize a shared responsibility to create and uphold that atmosphere for the benefit of all. Some behaviors are therefore specifically prohibited:

*	harassment or intimidation based on race, religion, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, physical appearance, or other group identity
*	sexual harassment or intimidation
*	public drunkenness and associated behaviors

For assistance or to report an incident, please call 443-457-3401. All reports will be fully investigated according to the steps outlined in our code of conduct, which will be published in the convention agenda. These principles have been delineated in our recently adopted code of conduct found at https://nfb.org/code-conduct <https://nfb.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=11422&qid=2267501> .

Volunteers Still Needed!

Please consider volunteering in the Independence Market. We are looking for energetic, joyful, warm bodies to volunteer to serve as demonstrators, storekeepers, and pay station representatives for all shifts in the Independence Market from July 4th to July 7th.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up! The Independence Market at national convention would not be possible without the support, dedication, and hard work of our numerous volunteers. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Jen White at (410) 659-9314, extension 2236, or by email at jwhite at nfb.org <https://nfb.org/sites/all/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=11423&qid=2267501> today!

If you have experienced the benefits of the powerful technologies sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind, NFB-NEWSLINE®, and KNFB Reader, please consider donating a couple of hours to assist us with our convention activities. Come join us and have some fun conversation with other Federationists while sharing the independence that NFB-NEWSLINE and KNFB Reader provide you in your daily lives. If you would like to assist us, we’d love your help. Please let us know in an email to swhite at nfb.org.
