Hi Terry,
I thought you had a pen friend that you could show. If not, we won't worry
about it.

Subject: [Md-sligo] HUNT Seminar Details

The following was compiled by Judy, with some input from me. This is shaping
up to be a rather challenging event. I think it will be educational for all
of us, whether we are learning a new skill or teaching one.
Lloyd Rasmussen,
---------------------------------
Logistics for HUNT Seminar
Thanks in advance to all who are helping by bringing food, setting up and
tearing down tables, using your gifts to help others, and for just being
friendly to everybody who is coming.
Here is what I know. We will have to be flexible, since my best laid plans
may not work out.
Most of the vendors will be in the community room. It will be on your left,
near the end of the hallway next to the gym. We will all gather in the art
room, which is on the right side of the hall, not very far down. Restrooms
are on the right side of the hallway, across the hall from the entrance to
the gym.
Here is where the flexibility comes in. As of now, we have 45 people,
including all of us, registered for the HUNT seminar. Of course, some will
cancel, although I don't think there will be many who will. The art room
holds 36 people. We'll figure something out when we arrive early on
Saturday. We are getting coffee from Starbucks rather than setting up our
coffee pot. The number of people registered either means we have done a good
job of promoting the seminar, or there is a definite need for what we are
doing. It is probably a little of both. Some people who are coming know a
lot, and some know very little. Many are brand new, which is what we wanted.
Arrival at 9:00: Abdulahi, Michael, Yasmin, Debbie, Shawn, Lloyd and Judy .
Set up coffee and doughnuts, plus tables and chairs. If all people who are
demonstrating could arrive by 9:45, it would be most appreciated. It would
be most helpful if those of you who are demonstrating apps would have your
phones fully charged, since there may not be an outlet at your table where
you will be able to charge it.
The Wi-Fi network for the Center is called MCGuest. When Lloyd and I were
there last Friday, our phones, which are on Sprint, worked okay, but a
computer would not connect to Wi-Fi in the Community Room. Apparently, it is
flaky.
Here is what I hope will happen during the seminar. After we gather in the
art room, each person who will be demonstrating something will have a very
brief time to say what they will be showing. Debbie and I will have the list
of the people who expressed an interest in certain things. Our plan would be
to let those particular people go with the vendors they want to see first. I
am asking Yasmin if she will be the person who makes sure everybody who
wants to see the voting machine has a chance to do so. There are several who
have never seen it, which is exciting.
Debbie is in charge of registration. I know we had talked about having a
discussion table, but I don't think it will be possible to do that because
of the space constraints. We will have to make sure, especially during
lunchtime, that we sit with people we don't know and get to know them. The
goal is to find out what people really want to know, so we can plan for
future seminars (not for a while, (smile).
We will be eating pizza from 12:15 to 1:00. We must be out of the Praisner
facility by 2:30, which means we will have to tear down tables shortly after
2:00.
Here are the tentative table assignments. I say tentative because I can't
remember for sure where all of the outlets are in the rooms.
1: Be My Eyes and Seeing AI—Ben.
2: Pen friend, ID mate and ScripTalk—Terry.
3. KNFB Reader—Bobby/Janice.
4. Victor Stream—Joel Zimba and Greg Hooks. They are bringing the Victor
Stream trek and are willing to take people outdoors.
5. lbph—Ashley Biggs.
6. iPhone basics—Sharon Kim and others. There are some chairs in the back of
the Community Room which we may find more suitable for teaching iPhone
basics.
7. Bard Express—Lloyd.
8. Newsline Patty/Chika.
9. Nearby Explorer, bus and other travel apps—Arielle.
10. Washington Ear—Evelyn Gemenick.
11. Accessible voting machine in the art room.

The community resource literature whichYasmin is gathering will either be on
the registration table or on a table next to it, depending on how much space
we have in the hall. We will provide NFB literature for tables where people
are demonstrating apps that can read print.
Sorry if all of this sounds bossy. I like structure; Lloyd is laid back. See
you all on Saturday. The weather is supposed to be great.
Judy Rasmussen
