Our chapter meeting will be on Saturday, March 9, at the Long Branch
library, 8800 Garland Avenue. This will be the last month we will meet at
this library. Next month's meeting will be at the Whiteoak Library.

We have a few fundraising activities coming up. First of all, we have
raffle tickets for the state of Maryland's fundraiser. Tickets cost $5. If
your number is drawn throughout the month of May, you get $50, unless it is
on Saturday, in which case you get $100. Please let me know how many
tickets you want. Janice and Terry, I have your pre-selected numbers.

We still have a few bags of nuts left. We have one bag of pistachios, a few
bags of butter toffee peanuts, and a few more bags of Jeppi #82 mix and
Baltimore bar mix.

We have some candy to sell. We have some from Sees and some from World's
Finest Chocolate. We did things that way because we wanted to see how each
kind did. We will not buy from two companies next year because the cost is
too high to do that. Here is what we have.

>From Sees:
Milk chocolate bars, $2.50 a bar, 24 bars to a box, $60 a box.
Extra dark (62%) chocolate bars, $2.50 a bar, 24 bars in a box, $60 a box.
Peanut brittle, $2 a bar, 8 bars in a box, $16 a box.

>From World's Finest Chocolate (we will probably split these cases)
Mint Meltaways, $2.00.
Chocolate-covered almonds, $2.50.
The mint meltaways are individually wrapped, with a bout 15 to a box. The
almonds are a larger box. The mint meltaways come in a case of 30, which
comes to a total of $60. The almonds come in a case of 60, which is heavy
and hard to carry. We might package them in bags of 20, which comes to $50
a bag.

In about a month, we will be having our Bidding for Opportunity dinner and
auction in Suitland, Maryland. Tickets are $40. Please bring money for
your own ticket on Saturday, and if you have friinds who are coming, bring
their money if you can. Queen has already paid for a table of 8. In
addition to people to bid, we need items to bid on, so let us know what you
will be bringing.

The convention is also coming up. I have group tickets for $409. We will
leave at 6:30 in the morning from BWI and arrive in Las Vegas at 8:30
Pacific time. We will leave Las Vegas at 8:10 in the morning on July 13 and
arrive at BWI at 3:45 our time. There are two other group flights that
leave in the evening and cost up to $50 less. They are also nonstop. If
you are interested in any of those, let me know and I will get you in touch
with Amber Woods. Amber is in charge of those groups, and she has the right
to set her own policies of what kind of payment to take when.

We will have a membership ceremony sometime probably in early summer. I
told the president we needed to work on our pledge, so we will say it at
every meeting.

I pledge to participate actively in the efforts of the National Federation
of the Blind to achieve equality, opportunity, and security, for the blind;
to support the pokicies and programs of the Federation; and to abide by its
constitution.

Debbie
