Montgomery County Public Libraries Announces the Closing Date for Long Branch Library Refresh Project

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) has announced that the Long Branch Library will close on Saturday, March 14 at 6 p.m. The library will undergo interior and exterior improvements under the County’s award-winning Library Refurbishment initiative. In addition to improvements to the building envelope (roof, windows, and doors), the project will include replacement of carpet, furniture, finishes and lighting. Work will also be performed to bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The library will be closed for six to nine months. 

“Physical construction for the refresh project at Long Branch will begin in April; we are closing ahead of the construction start date to complete the internal reorganization of collections and shelving,” noted MCPL Director Anita Vassallo. “We look forward to welcoming the customers back to their branch this fall and hope they will visit nearby branches, Silver Spring, Wheaton and White Oak, and our 24/7 website while their facility is undergoing the refresh process.”
