Please share this with those who may be interested. The MD State Highway Administration (SHA) is planning a pilot project to put protected bike lanes on University Boulevard, one lane in each direction, between Amherst and Arcola in Wheaton lasting from this summer through fall. Currently Ride On bus 7 operates in rush hour only and Ride On 8 operates throughout the day along University in both directions. They will take one lane from the three going in each direction for the bikes. Putting it mildly, it would be good to know how SHA is planning to design the bus stops and if they have thought of the safety and accessibility issues involved in requiring people to cross a bike lane to get to and from the bus.
