> New Funding Available for Massachusetts Residents in Skills Training
>
>
> Through the critical advocacy efforts and support of both constituents and partner blindness rehabilitation organizations alike, new state funding has been made available in Massachusetts to improve independent living skills for legally blind residents. The new funding is specifically for Social Rehabilitation (SR) clients of the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB). The Carroll Center for the Blind has expanded its assistive technology training programs with options for remote or in-person at its Newton campus. SR clients can enroll in either individual or small group technology training, whether for one day or several weeks. Popular training topics include VoiceOver on the iPhone and iPad, hosting and participating in Zoom meetings, JAWS and screen reader software, and MS Office applications. In addition to assistive technology training, MCB SR clients can also receive training in independent living skills. Flexible scheduling is available. To find out more about applying and scheduling training, please contact our Admissions team at admissions at carroll.org.
