Subject: [MD-Sligo] Chapter meeting in person!
On Saturday we will be meeteing at the White Oak Library, 11701 New
Hampshire Avenue. The meeteing room is downstairs.
Because the NFB of Maryland in-person gathering policy is still in effect,
you are required to wear masks to the meeting. If you have symptoms of
covid (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough), please stay home. Also, stay
home if you have been exposed to anyone with covid symptoms. Because it is
spring, if you have allergy symptoms, you should know that covid has the
same symptoms, and you should be absolutely sure you do not have covid
before you interact with other people.
We will serve refreshments. All of the refreshments will be bagged and
should be eaten while stationary, not walking around.
Please bring money for 2022 dues if you have not already paid. Dues are $5
a year or $100 for life membership.
We will have Dr. Zelaya from the board of elections, or possibly his
representative, to show the voting machine to those of you who have not used
it. If you have never voted independently as a blind person, now is the
time to try. He will also help people register to vote or change their
address.
We are doing the spring raffle again this year. Tickets are $5, and
drawings will be held throughout the month of May. If your name is drawn on
a weekday or Sunday, you win $50; if it is drawn on a Saturday, you win
$100. If the NFB of Maryland sells all of the tickets, there are additional
prizes. Please let me know how many tickets you want. We will be
distributing numbers electronically unless someone absolutely needs paper
tickets.
Basket bingo tickets are sold out, so if you have not bought one by now, you
are out of luck this year. We hope that next year the pandemic will be over
and we can sell more tickets.
Convention registration is open. I will be checking flights this week. If
you were listening to the presidential release, you know that masks and
covid testing will be required for those attending the convention.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone. If you can't make this meeting, we
will be meeting on Zoom in April.
Debbie
