Additional Info Below:
  Hello

I am the Activities Director of the MG Car Club of Washington D.C. We have
traditionally conducted a "Braille Rally" each year, going back to the
1980's, using our vintage British MG cars (photo attached). We have not
conducted this event for the past two years due to Covid, but we are
looking to bring the event back this year

The rally involves a person who is legally blind acting as a "navigator"
and instructing the driver/owner with directions (either braille or large
print). It is conducted over public roads and always at the posted speed
limit, past a series of "checkpoints" The team that finds and passes the
most checkpoints and finishes with the best time (which really amounts to,
doesn't get totally lost!) "wins." There is a trophy awarded, and lunch is
served to all the participants at the conclusion of the event. Like many
of our club's activities, this is a social activity and not an actual
competition.

The event is scheduled to be held at Burke Lake Park in Virginia on
Saturday, October 22. We can arrange for rides for any students (or U MD
staff) who want to participate. (We have one navigator who lives in nearby
Greenbelt who will be attending -- she is someone who I have ridden tandem
bicycles with in the past).

If you have anyone interested in this kind of activity we would love to
have them join us. There is no cost involved for navigators to attend.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Tom Renda
