Hi Everyone,

The Maryland Department of Rehabilitation Services has a job opening for the Director of CAP.  The individual has to have a Masters Degree or at least 36 hours of post-undergraduate credit.  It’d be great if someone from our community was hired for this job.

POSITION DUTIES

Join #TeamMSDE in this important role, which is responsible for direct oversight and management of the Client Assistance Program (CAP) of the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS). This program is responsible for advising individuals of services available to them through programs authorized under the Rehabilitation Act, as amended, and for conducting outreach, providing information and referral and advocacy for services to assure the protection of individual rights and access to services funded under the Act.

 

Duties Include:





*       Assigning, prioritizing, supervising, and evaluating the work of CAP staff

*       Establishing procedures and standards and monitoring accomplishment of program goals, objectives, and activities Assuring accurate data collection and submitting timely reports consistent with state and federal reporting requirements

*       Responding and resolving concerns in a manner consistent with DORS policies and State and Federal laws and regulations, while maintaining case record documentation consistent with CAP established standards

*       Developing and supervising the legal service contract

*       Monitoring quality of services and billing

*       Participating in the proposal review and selection process

*       Ensuring referrals for legal assistance are appropriate and made in a timely manner

*       Informing individuals with disabilities in the State, especially individuals with disabilities who have traditionally been unserved or underserved by vocational rehabilitation programs, of the services and benefits available to them under the Rehabilitation Act and title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990

*       Advising State vocational rehabilitation agencies of identified problem areas in the delivery of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, suggesting methods and means of improving agency performance and

*       providing information to the public concerning CAP

*       Representing CAP on agency committees and councils

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree or at least 36 hours of equivalent post-baccalaureate course work from an accredited college or university

Experience: Three years of administrative or professional work in rehabilitation, human services, or the social sciences

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute two additional years of experience as described above for the required education.

2. The above requirements are set by the Maryland State Department of Education in accordance with Education Article, Section 2-104, Annotated Code of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
