Adults 60 and over comprise a growing segment of the Montgomery County
population. This forum recognizes the unique housing needs of older adults,
at all income levels, for affordable and accessible housing options for
both owners and renters.

Local and nationally-recognized speakers and lively discussions will
address several key questions, including what stakeholders can do to:

   - increase the supply of housing for older adults
   - keep housing costs below 30 percent of household income, and
   - improve housing to enable better access to transportation, shopping,
   and community services

County officials and staff, housing advocates, faith–based communities,
financial institutions, neighborhood community groups, villages,
developers, and builders should all plan to attend.

Sign language interpreter services and other auxiliary aids or services,
will be provided upon request with as much advance notice as possible,
preferably at least three (3) full business days before the meeting/event.
To request the above or any other reasonable accommodation, please contact
Staff Liaison at 240-777-1262 (V) or via MD Relay at 711 or send a request

*Access Hears Offers Over-The-Counter Hearing Aids and Personal Sound
Amplifiers*Four hundred over-the-counter hearing aids and PSAPs (personal
sound amplification products) are available to County residents. Eligible
individuals must be age 60 and over with perceived mild-to-moderate hearing
loss and an annual income below 250% of the Federal Poverty
Guidelines. Access HEARS distributes the devices and provides one-on-one
support to help individuals become confident users of hearing technology.

Access HEARS, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to
connect individuals with hearing loss to the solutions they need to age
well. Founded by physicians and leading hearing experts and entrepreneurs
at the Johns Hopkins University, Access HEARS delivers services directly to
the community, offering its clients a low-cost, in-person or virtual
service delivery. In addition, Access HEARS teaches individuals how to use
over-the-counter hearing aids and other high-quality listening devices.

Over-the-counter hearing aids debuted on the US market in 2022. While
hearing aids are now more accessible than ever, significant barriers exist
to navigating the market and the devices themselves. Devices are on a first
come, first served basis. Participants must provide proof of age,
residence, and income. For more information, contact Shelley Stein, Client
Services Manager at 410-870-9373 or shelley at accesshears.com. Website:
