I hope this message finds you well. As specialists in the field of technology and accessibility, I know you are all too familiar with the barriers that inaccessible technology creates for blind and low-vision individuals, especially in education. Today, I am asking for your support in an important initiative aimed at addressing one of the biggest challenges faced by blind students: inaccessible educational software.

 

Despite the legal requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, companies like McGraw Hill continue to release educational platforms that are not fully accessible to students with disabilities. This creates unnecessary hurdles for students who rely on assistive technology to access their coursework.

 

We are calling for 5,000 signatures on a petition urging McGraw Hill to take immediate steps to address these accessibility issues. With your knowledge and commitment to technology and accessibility, I know that the BITS community can play a key role in amplifying this cause. Not only do we need your signature, but we also ask that you share the petition widely within your networks, encouraging others to take a stand for equal access to education.
