Dear BlindShell friends,
The first month of the year has flown by! Just like us, you’re probably looking forward to spring. We still have to wait a little longer, but we can start preparing for it now.
Spring is a great time to take care of things that help us every day – like your BlindShell phone.
In this edition, we have simple tips to keep your phone in great shape – from cleaning to small fixes. Just as nature comes to life in spring, your phone deserves a little care too.
Let’s give it a fresh start together! 🌿📱
News, Updates, Apps
January was also about maintenance. Our development team focused on more complex issues that take time, so we only released a few small updates without major changes.
In January, we updated following:
Facebook Messenger 2 – The app required an update.
YouTube – Fixed an issue with video loading.
Email – Fixed manual login issues, improved loading of long messages, and continuous reading.
WhatsApp - The app required an update.
Book Reader - Minor changes related to changing the translations of a few lines.

Did you know...? Tips and Tricks
... Taking care of your phone is important and helps prevent bigger issues. Let’s go through a few useful tips together...
1. Updates and Free Storage
We mention updates from time to time, but they are essential for keeping your phone running smoothly and fixing possible issues. It's also important to keep an eye on your storage – if your phone is too full, it may slow down, and some features might not work properly. That’s why it’s a good idea to do a little cleanup now and then to keep your phone in good shape.
2. Proper Battery Handling & Charging
We recommend not keeping your phone plugged in continuously, as long-term charging can harm the battery. For a longer lifespan, it's best to charge your phone when the battery drops to 30% and avoid frequent charging between 80% and 100%.
Also, be careful with a completely drained battery – leaving it empty in the phone can cause damage, which is not covered by warranty. If you won’t be using your phone for more than a week, it’s a good idea to remove the battery. Remember, every battery has a limited lifespan, and its capacity naturally decreases after several hundred charging cycles.
3. Contact Backup
Regularly backing up your contacts is important because you never know what might happen to your BlindShell phone. By backing up your contacts, for example to your computer, you can be sure you won’t lose them. It’s easy to do – just go to Menu > Contacts > Contact Settings > Backup Contacts to File.
4. Cleaning
In general, you should avoid using cleaning products with alcohol or water. Be careful not to let liquid get into the keyboard, microphone, speaker, or any accessible hardware parts of the phone.
For cleaning the screen, it's best to use a soft cleaning cloth. If your headphones stop working properly, we recommend gently cleaning the headphone jack. It may be clogged with dirt, which can prevent them from functioning correctly.
5. Protective case
To prevent mechanical damage, we recommend purchasing one of our protective cases. We offer a rear TPU cover (https://www.blindshell.com/eshop/tpu-case-for-blindshell-classic-2-and-3) and a Flip case (https://www.blindshell.com/eshop/flip-case-for-blindshell-classic-2-and-3) , so everyone can choose according to their preference. Cases are a great choice as they protect the phone from damage in case of a fall or other accidents.
If you need help with your phone, have an issue, or want to check the device’s condition, don’t hesitate to contact us or send the phone directly for a review.

Check out the official calendar and results to stay up-to-date with upcoming events around the globe. Don’t miss a race – find all the details here: Para-Biathlon Calendar & Results (https://www.biathlonworld.com/inside-ibu/para-biathlon/para-biathlon-calendar-results) .
Para-biathlon races can be watched online on the official IBU website, where live streams and results are available. You can also find broadcasts on YouTube or through sports channels like Eurosport.
In addition to watching para-biathlon, there are certainly many people who want to try winter sports themselves. Abroad, there are several organizations and centers offering skiing for blind and visually impaired individuals. For example, in the USA, there is an organization called "Blind Skiers and Snowboarders" that organizes events and training for blind skiers. In Canada, "Canadian Blind Sports" offers similar programs. In Europe, you can contact the "European Blind Union," which provides information on skiing activities for blind individuals in various countries.
For specific information on available programs and participation options, I recommend visiting the websites of these organizations or contacting local ski schools and centers that may offer tailored courses for blind and visually impaired individuals.
Maybe we'll inspire someone to try winter sports! :)
Do you have any recommendations or specific questions about what you'd like to see in the next Newsletter?
