Top Tech Tidbits, Access Information News and AI-Weekly Transition From Email Client To Web Browser To Better Serve The Needs of Readers All Over The World

 <https://at-newswire.com/author/aarondiblasi/> Aaron Di Blasi <https://at-newswire.com/newsletters-email-to-web-transition/> February 17, 2025

Greetings everyone. I would like to open with an apology. Readers are generally used to us announcing changes long before they take place, but due to events beyond our control, this was not the case recently.

If you already read our newsletters in your web browser each week, you need not read any further.

On Thursday, <https://www.toptechtidbits.com/tidbits2025/02132025/index.html> February 13, 2025, Top Tech Tidbits transitioned from providing the entire newsletter inside the email client itself, to providing the entire newsletter only within the online version.

This change will also affect all subsequent issues of <https://www.accessinformationnews.com/> Access Information News and <https://ai-weekly.ai/> AI-Weekly sent after this date.

Back on January 16, 2025, <https://at-newswire.com/how-to-read-ttt-and-ain-as-a-blind-or-low-vision-person/> I wrote:

BEGIN EXCERPT

Reader: Top Tech Tidbits has grown too long. It now takes more than 60 seconds to load in my email client.

Publisher: This is an issue that we are very aware of and are actively seeking solutions for.

On the one hand, it is a very, very good thing that the newsletters have grown to encompass so much valuable access information each week. But on the other hand, it has increased the size of the newsletters to a point where load times are unacceptable for some readers, and we realize that.

The obvious solution is to stop putting all of the information for each issue into the email version of each newsletter.

This change would ensure that all readers always read each newsletter in the web browser of their choice, an environment that offers a much better screen reader experience overall, and much faster load times.

So it is something that we may have to consider, as I see no other way to accommodate future growth without doing this. If you have thoughts around this, please don’t hesitate to share them with us 📧️.

END EXCERPT

While there are no limits on the amount of information that we can send you in a single email from a compliance perspective, there are unknown limits put in place by spam filters and other email “authorities” that try to create rules that curb spam-like behavior.

The issue with their very good intentions is that they always, and I mean always, end up targeting someone operating legitimately.

For example, many filters place a size limit of 64K, 128KB, 256KB, 512KB, 768KB or 1MB on the “size” of a single email, before it is blocked. Prior to this transition, our newsletters were coming in at about 650KB each week. Far, far away from the “best practice” size of 64KB.

Therefore, many, many people were simply unable to receive our newsletters due to the settings enacted by their spam filters, email providers and ISPs. The average size of our newsletter in your inbox now? 85KB. With that incredible reduction in KBs, our newsletters will now reach a lot more readers without issue.

Several people wrote in with other ideas, but unfortunately, none of them were applicable. So on Thursday, February, 13, 2025, when we found ourselves pushing up against 650KB once again, we decided enough was enough, and converted the newsletter from an email client and online newsletter, to a purely online newsletter.

What Does This Mean?

This means that you will no longer be able to read the entire newsletter directly inside of your email client each week. You will now need to read the newsletter in a web browser each week. The version that you receive in your inbox will only serve to provide you with a link for your clicking convenience.

For any readers that might be screaming right now, we hear you. Change is hard.

But this is, without question, the very best solution for the largest number of readers. I do apologize if you’re not one of them, but I assure you that reading the newsletter in your web browser of choice each week will provide you with a much better reading experience, especially if you use assistive technology, than was being provided by your email client.

This is a blanket guarantee that will now be enjoyed by readers all over the world, and as such is one of the primary reasons that I am most excited for this change.
