[MD-Sligo] Chapter meeting this Saturday and other announcements

The chapter meeting this Saturday will be at the Kensington Park Library,
4201 Knowles Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895.  We will meet as usual at 1:30.

 

I am trying to schedule an appointment with Congressman Raskin's staff on
Tuesday in person.  I cannot guarantee that it will be on that day, but if
you can be available on Tuesday, please let me know so I can give you more
information.  I will not know until Monday.

 

Thanks to Tracey Turri Squires, Michelle Lindsay and Sharon Maneki who have
contributed to our Sligo Creek walk team.  I know other people will be
bringing money next week and have already sent checks to Ben.  We had a
lovely day for a walk.  We had three friends walk with us, one from my
church and two whom Yasmin invited through the volunteer coordinator class
she is taking.  

 

I want to thank everyone who was on the call with Senator Van Hollen's staff
on Thursday.  There were 50 people from all over the state of Maryland.  Sue
Schaffer, Melba Taylor, and staff from the Image Center did a good job of
telling the senator's staff why special education and rehabilitation
services are important to blind people.

 

On November 15 we will have a dinner and auction to support our scholarship
fund.  Tickets are $65.  I know that these are hard times for some people,
but we need as many people as possible to help our future generation take
over the world so they can make it a better place than they found it.  

 

The nuts are here.  If you want any, please let me and Judy know.  I will
send out the form again.  Let us know what you want as soon as possible
before the chapter meeting.

 

Also, let us know what items you have for the auction.  It is good to know
so that Judy can have a good list of items.  Also, we would like to know
what you have so that we don't have many of the same items.

 

For our December holiday meeting, we will be at Mama Lucia in Olney.  It is
located in the Olney Village Center.  The address is 18224 Village Center
Drive, Olney, MD 20832.  It is bus and MetroAccess accessible.
