Subject: Mark Your Calendar-Upcoming Technology and Smart Phone
Opportunities at Leisure World

Hi Debbie, it was great seeing everyone yesterday as well as meeting new
people. Please share this information about the two opportunities for
learning about assistive technology and smart phones at Leisure World this
week with the chapter. MretroAccess comes to Leisure World, everyone will
have to stop at the gatehouse, just tell the guard that you are attending a
meeting. All are welcome to attend both sessions, you do not have to live
in Leisure or be affiliated with the Lions Club.

Lions Vision Support Group's (LVSG) next meeting is Wednesday, November 12,
2025 at 2:00 PM in the Norbeck Room in Clubhouse II. Please note the change
of location for the November meeting. We are very fortunate to have a
presentation by James Whitney, Assistive Technology Clinician, from the
Maryland Technology Assistance Program (MDTAP).

MDTAP offers a variety of services including assistive technology libraries,
short-term device loans, trainings, webinars, and a low-interest financial
loan program. The address for Clubhouse II is 3300 North Leisure World Blvd,
Silver Spring, MD

The Leisure World Technology Center is sponsoring a training, "Mastering
Smartphone Features for Low Vision" on Thursday, November 13, 1-3 p.m.,
Potomac Room, Clubhouse I. This program will help users browse and navigate
better on their smartphones, that device in everyone's pocket or purse has
hidden powers that can help people with impaired vision. Learn also about a
special phone called Blindshell that may be useful. Participants are
encouraged to bring their iPhone or Android devices. All experience levels
and caregivers are welcome. The address for Clubhouse I is 3700 Rossmoor
Blvd, Silver Spring, MD.

Diane Ducharme will be the trainer for the BlindShell phone.
