Subject: The NLS My Talking Books Alexa skill

Attention all users of the Alexa My Talking Books skill,

In case of a scenario where the federal government is still closed on November 1 2025, the My Talking Books skill will be temporarily taken offline shortly after November first. This means use of the skill will not be available until sometime after fiscal appropriations have been approved. If the skill is temporarily taken offline, be assured that user profiles will be retained and available for use when the skill is restored. Note, once the federal government resumes operation, access to the My Talking books skill will be restored as soon as possible, but understand it will take some time before access to the skill will be restored. 

When the My Talking Books skill does become available, a notification will be sent out as a BARD alert message, as well as through the Patron Announce and BARD support lists.

If, however, fiscal year 2026 appropriations are approved before November 1 2025, the My Talking Books skill will continue to be available for your use.
