We will be meeting this Saturday at the Kensington Park Library, 4201
Knowles Avenue, Kensington.
We will be discussing our Blind Equality Achievement Month activity, which
is a discussion of the book "The Story of my Life" by Helen Keller. The
book number for BARD is DB55883 or BR14704. The event will be on Saturday,
October 18, at 2:00 at the Rockville Library, 21 Maryland Avenue, in
Rockville. We will discuss the book and will use the opportunity to answer
questions about blindness, as well as hand out literature
and braille alphabet cards.
We will have our dinner and auction for the John T. McCraw scholarship fund
on Saturday, November 15 at the Knights of Columbus, 9450 Cherry Hill Road
in College Park. We will have Anita Minor cater the event. The price of a
ticket will be $65.
We will be deciding whether to raise our lifetime dues from $100 to $150.
This requires an amendment to our constitution. I will send out the actual
text of the amendment later.
I will be checking on nut prices. We will be voting on whether or not to
sell nuts, and also on whether to sell nuts at the NFB makers market which
will be on Sunday, November 16. The cost of a table is $50.
Terry Powers, Terri Nettles and Yasmin Reyazuddin will be selling crafts at
the makers market. If you or anyone you know has handmade or homemade items
to sell, you may sign up for the makers market until October 15. It will be
at the Jernigan Institute and the cost of a table is $50.
There will be an online silent auction which will finish at the time of the
crab feast. Watch for the link to show up soon.
We will be holding our October meeting on Zoom and our November meeting at
the Kensington Park library. We will be holding elections in November.
See you all on Saturday.
Debbie
