Dear BlindShell friends,
Easter is approachingāa few days off, time spent with family, and those spring days weāre all so looking forward to! In March, our team attended a trade show in the U.S. and soaked up some California sunshine, but here weāll have to wait a little longer for it :)
In this issue, youāll find stories and impressions from the CSUN trade show, so we hope you enjoy it.
** News, Updates, Apps
In March, we experienced minor outages on some servers, which may have affected Tandem. At the same time, our development team was working on major updates and changes, which were reflected in the latest update to the Tandem app for Android and iOS.
** In March, we updated the following for you:
Images - You can now rename images directly within the app, without having to use the File Manager.
Voice Recorder - Improved app stability, especially when working with older SD cards.
File Manager - Fixed a bug when opening contacts (.vcf) that could cause the app to crash.
Tandem for Android and iOS
Voice messages: Improved recording and playback (up to 5 minutes, now with skip and speed control).
Support: New section with quick access to guides, FAQs, and support contact information.
Android: Improved reliability of background calls and more practical notifications (e.g., quick reply).
Other changes: Minor interface improvements for easier navigation.
We are preparing improvements to background calls for iOS in the next version.
** Did you know...? Tips and Tricks
** ... Did you know that trade shows like CSUN exist?
There are still many people who do not take advantage of the opportunities offered by todayās technology. That is precisely why it is important to raise awareness about new assistive devices that can significantly increase the independence and quality of life for people with disabilitiesāwhether visual, hearing, or otherwise.
Donāt be afraid to show your phone to others
At the conference, we saw how much it helps when people actively show their BlindShell to others. Sharing experiences can inspire others and often leads to interesting conversations.
Make the most of its simplicity
One of the things visitors appreciated most is how easy BlindShell is to use. So donāt be afraid to use voice control, shortcuts, your favorite apps, and bookmarks to make your daily use as easy as possible.
Try out new features
At the conference, we showcased features like Tandem, Luna, and Observo. However, the phone has over 50 apps and features available. If you havenāt tried them yet, now might be the perfect time to discover something new. You can find a list of our features here (https://www.blindshell.com/blindshell-app-catalog-bsc3?utm_source=BlindShell+contacts&utm_campaign=52a9f4ce45-September+monthly+newsletter+-+com_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8f8599944c-52a9f4ce45-461634675) .
š¬ Community matters
Meeting users from around the world has once again shown us how strong the BlindShell community is. Share your tips, experiences, or favorite featuresāyou can help others by doing so. š You can also join our BlindShell forum here (https://forum.blindshell.com/?utm_source=BlindShell+contacts&utm_campaign=52a9f4ce45-September+monthly+newsletter+-+com_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8f8599944c-52a9f4ce45-461634675) , where youāll find other users with whom you can share advice and inspiration.
** The CSUN Conference Through the Eyes of the BlindShell Team
As you know from previous issues, we attended the CSUN assistive technology conference in Anaheim, California, in March. It is the largest conference of its kind in the world, and for BlindShell, it was a great opportunity to be part of it, meet with partners, and raise awareness of our products.
The conference ran from Tuesday to Friday, and thanks to our standās excellent location, we had the perfect space to showcase the BlindShell Classic 3. As is our tradition, we held a phone giveaway, which drew nearly 100 participants. The days were intense and demanding, yet also filled with inspiring encounters and pleasant conversations with people from all over the world.
Our presentation focused primarily on key features such as Luna, Observo, and Tandem, but also on what matters mostāease of use, accessibility, and the unique BlindShell interface.
We were very pleased with the visitorsā reactions. Many were enthusiastic about the phoneās capabilities, and those who already knew us appreciated the introduction of the new generation and its improvements.
In addition to information and business cards, we handed out small treats to brighten visitorsā days. In return, we took away plenty of energy, inspiration, and joy from these personal encounters.
Finally, we also took home one truly exceptional experienceāStevie Wonder appeared at the conference, and our colleague Myrna even has a photo with him š
Below, weāre sharing a few photos from the conferenceāour booth, our team, the small gifts, and, as a bonus, the heart of the Grand Canyon, which we managed to capture during our subsequent vacation in the U.S.
*The photos include alternative text that is more detailed than the captions below the images.
The photo shows our colleague Myrna from the U.S. (in the middle) with visitors to the trade show. Everyone is smiling, and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Our U-shaped booth features displayed phones, flyers, and banners highlighting key features. In the center stands the entire teamāKamila, Lorna, Dominika, and Myrnaāin front of a large wall displaying the logo and visuals promoting assistance for the blind.

A handmade bracelet created by one of the visitors. It was made using 3D printing and is designed to teach Brailleāeach cube contains letters and their corresponding Braille symbols. This makes it possible to learn the alphabet by rotating the cubes right on your wrist.
An aerial view of the Grand Canyon, where the rock formations create a shape resembling a heart. The photo was taken by one of my colleagues during a subsequent vacation.

Finally, hereās a link to Stevie Wonderās music. If youāre not familiar with him yet, heās definitely worth a listen. ** Inspiration and information from the blind community
Letās stay on the topic of exhibitions and trade shows for a moment, because in just a month weāll be heading to the annual SightCity assistive technology trade show in Frankfurt, which weāre already getting ready for! :) If you have the chance to attend any of the presentations, trade shows, or open houses, definitely give it a try. Thereās nothing like experiencing assistive technology firsthand.
šļø April is Womenās Eye Health Month
April is dedicated to raising awareness about womenās eye health, as women account for up to two-thirds of people with visual impairments. This higher risk is linked, for example, to hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause), longer life expectancy, or certain medical conditions.
The goal of this initiative is to highlight the importance of preventionāregular check-ups with an eye doctor, a healthy lifestyle, and addressing issues early can significantly help protect your vision.
