Access to Expression: Inclusive Arts in the District

Wednesday, July 22nd, 5-7 p.m.
MLK Library, 5th Floor Event Space

 

Join us on the 5th floor in commemoration of the 36th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act for an evening of creativity, community, and connection!

 

Featuring:

 


  * A panel discussion on building a more inclusive arts community 
  * A vibrant art exhibit 
  * Hands-on interactive art activity 
  * Inclusive and accessible community resources 

 

**ASL interpretation will be provided throughout the evening. CART (live-captioning) will be available for the panel discussion*. For additional reasonable accommodations, contact Shelley.CarrBrown at dc.gov

District Vibes / American Pride: How DC Changed American Culture

Saturdays - July 25, August 1 & 22

DC Public Library is commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary by showcasing the unique and vibrant contributions Washingtonians have made to America’s culture and history.

District Vibes / American Pride: How D.C. Changed American Culture [ https://www.dclibrary.org/district-vibes-american-pride-how-dc-changed-american-culture ] tells the story of D.C. through striking images, artifacts, compelling history, and dynamic programming. 
 
Washington, D.C. is more than a federal city—it’s a mosaic of neighborhoods and communities that have nurtured creativity, learning, music, cuisine, and sports for generations. While the District is smaller geographically than every single U.S. state, within its’ 68-square miles residents of the District have contributed groundbreaking ideas that have shaped the nation’s imagination and driven meaningful change. 
 

During your visit you will be guided through the exhibit and be given the opportunity for questions and clarification in an open forum format.

"*NOTE: The Saturday tours on July 25, August 1, and August 22 include visually descriptive language to increase accessibility for blind or low-vision visitors.*"
