Dear BlindShell friends,
This time we have some really great news for you, and we hope you'll like it. Make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee, because this information is definitely worth it. Before we start with the news, let's take a look back at the updates that took place last month.
** News, Updates, Apps
Our latest update brings several improvements designed to give users more control and an even smoother experience.
A new mobile network selection option is now available in Settings.
Luna (Classic 3) has also received great enhancements, which we’ll explore in more detail in our Tips & Tricks section.
After updating, some users were asked to reconfirm Luna’s AI features to ensure everything works properly. If Luna isn’t responding as expected, please check that these features are enabled in Settings.
The update also includes a fix in the feedback sounds settings and other minor stability improvements.
** In February, we updated the following for you:
Internet Browser - This update fixes an issue with incorrect history times after a time zone change and restores the ability to launch Reading Mode from the main menu. You’ll now hear a confirmation when a page fully loads in Reading Mode from the RSS Reader. We also resolved a problem that caused media playback to pause when the screen dimmed, ensuring smoother listening.
Podcast Player - Improvements to manually adding podcasts.
Internet Radio - Improved playback stability.
Weather - Added wind direction to hourly forecast.
Email Client - Added an option to delete emails in a folder.
Interval Timer - Added an option to pause the timer.
Book Reader - Improved playback stability for M4B files.
RSS Reader - Improved offline reading. Enhanced stability for OPML imports.
File Manager - Added support for importing contacts.
Voice Recorder - Optimized memory usage.
I think there have been many great improvements, whether in Luna or in general things like deleting emails, pausing the timer, and much more.
The last thing we want to share is the newly available NFB-NEWSLINE® library,
which is primarily available to US users. Some of you may not be subscribed to the US newsletter. If so, we recommend signing up here (https://www.blindshell.com/us/newsletter?utm_source=BlindShell+contacts&utm_campaign=acc130fcc6-September+monthly+newsletter+-+com_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8f8599944c-acc130fcc6-461634675) , so that you don't miss out on these US news! :)
** Did you know...? Tips and Tricks
** ...let's take a closer look at the three main topics :)
Luna
We’ve also made improvements to Luna (Classic 3). Users can now choose a longer listening time in Settings if the previous listening window felt too short for completing voice commands.
How to do it? Go to Settings, Luna Voice Assistant, Luna Listening Time: here you will have two options to choose from, normal and long.
In addition, Luna’s feedback has been enhanced to provide a clearer and more responsive experience.
And you know what, that's not all! Luna will now provide your current location!
Operator network selection
A new mobile network selection option has been added to Settings. This can be especially helpful for users who live in or travel through border areas, where devices may automatically switch between networks. Manual selection allows greater stability and control when needed.
Email Client
Added an option to delete emails in a folder. You will now find a delete all option in all your email folders, not just in the trash :) If you want to get to the end of your emails faster, just hold down the down button.
** Inspiration and information from the blind community
March brings fresh inspiration across Europe, along with opportunities to learn, connect, and explore.
Museum of Visual Impairment in Finland
If you are planning a trip to Northern Europe, consider visiting the Museum of Visual Impairment (Museo Opas (https://museo-opas.fi/museum-of-visual-impairment/?utm_source=BlindShell+contacts&utm_campaign=acc130fcc6-September+monthly+newsletter+-+com_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8f8599944c-acc130fcc6-461634675) ) in Finland. The museum presents the history of people with visual impairments, including education, employment, and the development of assistive devices. Accessible exhibitions and historical tools, such as early Braille machines, offer a meaningful look at how independence and support have evolved over time.
A Month of Reading and Innovation
In many European countries, March is associated with reading. Libraries for the blind and visually impaired often host author talks, online events, and presentations of new audiobooks. It is a great opportunity to discover new titles and engage with your local community.
At the same time, accessibility-focused events across Europe continue to highlight innovation and inclusion, sharing new ideas in assistive technology and independent living.
We Are Heading to CSUN
Our team is also traveling to the CSUN Assistive Technology Conference (https://conference.csun.at/event/2026/exhibitors?utm_source=BlindShell+contacts&utm_campaign=acc130fcc6-September+monthly+newsletter+-+com_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8f8599944c-acc130fcc6-461634675) in the United States. We look forward to meeting partners, connecting with new organizations, and sharing inspiration. If you are attending, we would be happy to see you there.
You can also look forward to hearing about our travels in April :)
Do you have any recommendations or specific questions about what you'd like to see in the next Newsletter?
And if you enjoy the Monthly Newsletter, feel free to recommend it to your friends so they don’t miss out on useful tips and the latest BlindShell updates! 😊
