[MD-Sligo] Saturday's chapter meeting and fall activities

Below is the Zoom link for Saturday's chapter meeting, which begins at 1:30.

 

We will have a busy fall.  On Saturday, September 26, there will be a
virtual meeting of the NFB of Maryland board, to which all of you are
invited to discuss plans for our state convention in February.

 

On Saturday, October 3, we will have a walk as part of the Coast to Coast
movement challenge.  We will be walking the Heart Smart Trail at Brookside
Gardens, beginning at 9:30.  As part of the challenge, you may contribute
funds to the National Federation of the Blind.  The trail is 1 mile.  We
plan to walk the trail 3 times, but if you aren't sure about being able to
walk 3 miles, come and walk 1 mile or as much as you want.  There are
benches to rest along the way.  We are looking for volunteers to walk with
us.  If you want to bring a friend, that is fine.  The address is 1800
Glenallan Avenue in Silver Spring.

 

On Sunday afternoon, October 18, the Sligo Creek Book Club will be hosting a
virtual event for the entire state of Maryland.  We will be reading the book
The Country of the Blind, by Andrew Leland.  The book is available on BARD
in audio and braille format.

 

On Saturday, November 14, we will have our annual Bidding for Opportunity
dinner and auction to raise money for our scholarship fund.  Bring your
friends and bring auction items.  The cost is $70.  Tony Addison will be
providing entertainment for us.

 

We will have an in-person meeting in October.  In November, we will have a
virtual meeting, which will begin at 11:00 so that we can have time to
prepare for our dinner and auction.  Elections will be held in November, so
be prepared to vote in the virtual meeting.  If you have questions about
raising your hand or muting and unmuting, one of our members will be able to
help you with whatever device you are using.
