Mission:

We advance the lives of our members and all blind people in the United
States. The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.

The National Federation of the Blind is planning many walking and/or running
events. Our local Sligo Creek chapter of the National Federation of the
Blind invites you  to our annual  walk-a-thon on Saturday October 3, 2026 to
raise awareness and funds to support NFB Coast to Coast Movement Challenge

 

Volunteer position Description 

Walking companion 

Looking for 10 individuals who can be companions to the blind walkers on
October 3, 2026, for a fun filled walk at the Brookside gardens. 

No specialized skills required, 

Annual event 

All age groups 

Deadline to sign up September 25, 2026
