The Saturday Technology Training Session for May 19<sup>th</sup>, 2012 will feature Krista Flores from the Smithsonian Institution Accessibility Program, and Kathy Gosselin from the National Federation of the Blind Newsline Service. The program will be sign language interpreted and will be held from 1:00PM to 4:00PM in room 215, Adaptive Services at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Details follow:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Krista Flores, a Program Specialist with the Smithsonian Institution Accessibility Program, will discuss access at the various Smithsonian Museums. Her talk will include information on to the museums, exhibitions and public programs. Additionally, she will discuss the availability of verbal description provided through a free smart phone app and the upcoming Folklife Festival. This year's Festival is scheduled for June 27- July 1 and July 4 - July 8. The program areas will focus on: Creativity in Crisis, which will showcase panels of the AIDS memorial quilt; Citified, which will look at creativity, identity, and community in Far Southeast Washington, D.C., neighborhoods; and Campus and Community, which will explore the collaboration between some Universities and the US Department of Agriculture. One of these Universities will focus on the integration of disability and technology. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>Kathy Gosselin, Administrator for the NFB Newsline Service of the District of Columbia, who works in the Adaptive Services Division of the DC Public Library, will discuss the NFB Newsline Service. NFB Newsline is a free service that provides telephone and internet access to over 300 local, national and international newspapers and magazines including Spanish-language newspapers. You can change the speed and voice settings, spell out words, or search for a particular word or subject. This service includes local information channels, TV and Job listings, and Target Store Circulars. Interested? Come find out how to sign up.
