Use words that are meaningful in your industry or profession. Think, "what would the hiring manager want to hear" Write down the names of all of the employers and positions you have had. Write down the most significant impact you had on the organization, the types of activities you were involved in, and the results of your work. scope of your responsibility in sales volume, number of people supervised, or territory covered. Why -- why you do what you do - how you are unique Goal -- immediate, realistic, time line - make it clear what you are asking for Example: My name is Patrick Timony and I am the adaptive technology librarian at the dc public library. The library provides ATs for people who need to use them in order to access the library's programs and services. Adaptive Technologies are devices that increase people's ability to access the library's programs and services. We provide CCTVs at selected branches and divisions of the DC Public Library, and specialized as well as standard ATs in the Adaptive Services Division at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library. Free training is available in the Adaptive Services Division to teach the basics of using ATs. Networking programs and events on the topic of ATs are coordinated at the library and in the D.C. area. Our programs bring users and developers together to share information in an open environment. This is an innovation model of library service to people with print disabilities. My goal is to support the local community that has formed around the library and around this innovation model of library service. no longer than two minutes. It is a speech you could deliver "on the fly" in an elevator if you encountered someone you think might be a good contact. Your elevator speech should be delivered in a way that will prompt them to ask for your card and make them remember you! Help the recruiter understand why they should hire you rather than others who did a similar function. Get help with your resume, even if you think you do not need it. Multiple versions of your resume are helpful.
