I am letting all of you know about callers claiming to be from the IRS. They are getting a little more sophisticated than the one who claimed, with a foreign accent, that he was going to “throw me in the jail.” If you ask about written
notices, they claim to have sent several, and they will give you dates and a description of the document. I know this because my sister got scammed. It is safe to say that you should give your information to no one, and we must not intimidate easily. We
need to apply some of our urban cynicism and make people work hard for our money. If it is legitimate, the IRS has easier means to get at us, such as garnishing our government checks, which many of us around here get in some form or other. Think about it—the
government doesn’t really want to spend a lot of money involving the police in arresting us. I would recommend taking 24 hours in responding to any cold call—whether it be selling something or threatening us. Of course, if there is a direct threat, call
911 or the local police number.

I am sending my sister the documents Yasmin gave us. I was on the alert when I received these calls mostly because of the information Yasmin has been giving us from the county. I am glad Montgomery County is at least doing something constructive.

Please be careful. As Federationists we learn that blindness does not impair our judgment, so be sure to trust yours.
