Hello fellow MDABS members,

I am writing to announce the creation of a new listserv for blind teens and
young adults to discuss social issues as they relate to blindness. Called
Blind Social Talk, this list was created to fill what some of us on other
NFB lists felt was a need which has until now been unmet: the need for a
place where blind students can freely and openly discuss the many social
issues faced by blind students and young adults. These can include dating
and relationships, sexuality, problems with family, fitting in at school,
stress, and many others. Although these are common issues among all teens
and young adults, they can sometimes be effected by blindness. Therefore,
some members of the National Association of Blind Students (NABS) list
created the Blind Social Talk list. To subscribe to this list, send an email
with the subject subscribe to blind-social-talk-subscribe at yahoogroups.com.
You will be asked to provide a short description of yourself and why you
want to be a member of the list upon receipt of your request to join the
list just to prevent spam. If you have any questions about the list or the
discussion permitted on it, please contact Desiree Oudinot, the list's owner
and moderator at turtlepower17 at gmail.com. I hope some of you will find this
list to be a good resource!
