In this email you will find Fall 2013 programs for teens and young adults.
One thing to note this Fall is that our programs are still continuing to
grow in Harford County. In order to best meet the needs of our teens and
young adults many of our programs have been restructured to identify
individual levels of independence and future goals for independent living.

We have also been working hard to bring the Connect program back to
Baltimore County as we recognize the need for such a program from many of
our consumers. If you are interested in joining our waiting list and would
like to be notified when the Connect program begins in Baltimore County

Gaining Independence through Connect & Travel

Changes to Teen Connect & Travel:

Through the newly structured Connect Program Teens and Young Adults will
work together as a group over several planning sessions and will utilize
specific skills of communication and decision making to select and plan a
final outing of the fall session that is both recreational and informative.
During each structured session leading up to the final outing participants
will work to identify the specific skills of independent living needed to
plan and attend the outing of their choice. These skills will include
money-management and budgeting, time management and planning, skills related
to problem solving and skills of safety through independent travel. This
will include group travel by taxi in Harford County with a skilled travel
training instructor.  The final 45 minutes of each session will be set aside
to promote healthy and appropriate friendships and socialization during a
pizza dinner.

Teen Connect will be meeting the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month

* Drop off for each planning session will be at the Bel Air Library

*Each participant planning session will end with a dinner wrap up at
Buentempo Pizza on Main Street in Bel Air where pizza dinner and drinks will
be served.

*Upon registration you will be charged a one time fee of $40.00 utilized
toward program materials. This will include all dates in the fall session.

Participants will embark on an informative and recreational outing, planned
entirely by them the participants.

*Thursday, November 28th is Thanksgiving. No session will be held.
