Hello everyone,
This seems like a wonderful opportunity. I know a lot of our kids are too young, but I thought I would post this in case there is anyone old enough and interested.
Thanks,
Melissa

Dear Professionals and Families of Visually Impaired and Sighted Students,

Our early application deadline is coming up on January 18, 2015 so we wanted to remind you about this opportunity! Visually impaired and sighted students across the U.S. ages 15-19 have an amazing opportunity to participate in a 9-month program that includes an expedition to the Grand Canyon with No Barriers Youth on July 13-24, 2015. No Barriers Youth (formerly Global Explorers) has provided educational travel opportunities for visually impaired and sighted students since 2010 in various destinations from the Peruvian Rainforest to the Grand Canyon. In 2015, we will travel to the Grand Canyon. Attached is our flyer with program details.

Cost: $1,225 + travel to Phoenix, AZ. Due to generous funding from the National Park Service's Natural Sound & Night Skies Division (NSNSD), this program has been partially offset from its original price.

Eligible Students: Blind, Visually Impaired and Sighted

Developed in partnership with world-renowned blind mountaineer and Board member Erik Weihenmayer, our Leading the Way program unites students of mixed abilities on incredible adventures around the world. With help from another Board member, Bill Barkeley, Leading the Way has grown to include programs for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Participants gain unparalleled skills as leaders who focus on building a shared vision, encouraging independence and teamwork, learning from mistakes, questioning assumptions, promoting trust and embracing adversity. All participants learn the adaptive skills necessary to fulfill their roles as members of a diverse team striving to accomplish a common goal.
