Hello fellow Parents, Save the Dates Braille Music WorkshopOctober 21, 2011 In cooperation with the MD Dept of Education Where: MD School for the BlindTaylor Ave, Baltimore, MD9:00- 3:00 Come and encourage your TVI's and Music Teachers to Attend a introductory Workshop on Braille Music. Child care provided. light breakfast and lunch provided. NFB of Maryland State Convention and MDPOBC ConventionOctober 28-30th, 2011 Where: Carousel Hotel, Ocean City, MD I am getting very excited about the up and coming State Convention. Your MDPOBC Board members are working very hard to have a very productive and educational/Fun Convention for both you and our Children, both sighted and Blind. We are tentively working on workshops for Oct. 28th , "Raising a Blind Child in 2011" with workshops on Social Skills, Behaviors, PreK thru College Transitions and your Childs IEP, Math. With State and National Speakers. The Work Shops will start at 1:00pm and break at 4:00 for NFB of MD Board meeting and Dinner and restart at 6:30 to 8:30. There will be 4 sessions. Child Care will be provided Both Friday and Saturday. With a Scavenger hunt/Cane walk for the kids. and a Tour in Ocean City for the 9-18 yr olds. We are also in the process of nominating the Exceptional Educator of the year for 2011. This is all tentative and more fliers will follow soon. Also in the works for the fall/WinterTechnology Day at the NFB We do not have a date for this yet but it is our #1 request for Help from you parents is Technology question!!!!Se we are working with Ann Taylor from the NFB to put together a day in the Technology center at the NFB so you can see first hand the Technology that is out there. This is all in the beginning stages but I wanted to let you know we are listening to your concerns and trying to find ways to meet them. Keep the request coming so we know how to help you meet the needs of your children Trudy L. Pickrel
