The Blind Sports Organization and the Delaware Association for Blind Athletes invite you and your children to participate in this fun day of introduction to sports and recreation.
BSO & DABA’s
13thMid-Atlantic SPORTS DAY
for Blind & Visually Impaired Youth& Adults
When: Saturday,Oct. 5, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Where: ***New Location*** Red Lion Christian Academy, 1390Red Lion Rd., Bear, DE 19701. Ifyou will use public transportation, please contact us.
What: Come learn or improve sport skills while having fun, seeingold friends and meeting new ones. We offer separatesessions in some sports for beginners & experiencedmales & females. The following tentative sports will be conductedby volunteer instructors (Note: activitiesmay be cancelled due to lack of interest expressed on pre-registration forms): Archery, AudioDarts, Basketball, Beep Baseball, Bowling, Goalball, Golf Driving & Putting, Horseshoes, Judo, Kickball, Ping-Pong, Powerlifting, Soccer, Zumba®
Who: All blind &VI ages 7-77+, and siblings who can follow directions and function fairly independently. Sighted guides provided upon request. Parents, teachers,O&M instructors, and other VIprofessionals are encouraged to attend.
To Register: Get the form at: www.blindsports.org or call (302)836-5784. The fee is $8 perindividual or $16 per family. Early Registrationdeadline is Sept. 25 (call302-836-5784 after that date). Late registrants and walk-ins will pay$10 & $20 for family.
Sports Day History: At the request of parents and teachers Sports Day was created toprovide an opportunity for blind and VI of the Mid-Atlantic states to enjoysports in a non- threatening, fun atmosphere. After gaining experience, participants areencouraged to get involved incommunity programs and/or on-going blind sports programs. Sports Day is hosted by the Blind Sports Organization (BSO) and DE Assoc.for Blind Athletes (DABA).
Blind Sports Info: There are organized sports for blind and visually impaired all over the world. There are opportunities for local, regional,national, international, and Paralympic competition for those interested inmore than fitness and recreation. ThisSports Day can be your first step to participation or improvement in recreationand sports.
